A Golden Hour Santa Barbara Beach Engagement Session

October 4, 2026
Hey, it’s Linda! I’ve been sitting on this session for a few months and I can’t wait to share it!
I met this couple by the Santa Barbara waterfront on a clear June evening, and for the next hour and a half we chased the light from the palm trees to the shoreline. They came here for vacation and live in Miami!

Starting under the palms
We began on the grassy strip along Cabrillo Boulevard, right by the skatepark. It’s one of my favorite spots to warm up: tall palms, bright green lawn, pops of red flowers, and the mountains peeking through behind it all. I had them walk hand in hand, talk to each other, and forget I was there. Within a few minutes the nerves were gone and the real smiles came out.
Before heading to the sand, we tucked into the shade of a huge old tree for a few close portraits. The light filtering through the branches gave everything a soft glow.

Down to the water
From there we walked to the beach beside the dive rental dock. The harbor sat behind us with sailboats on one side and the Santa Ynez Mountains on the other. She wore a simple black dress, he kept it classic in a white tee and jeans, and against the blue sky and water it couldn’t have looked better.
This is where they really let loose. There was dancing at the edge of the tide, a twirl or two, and a lift that had them both laughing as the water rolled in around their feet.

Sunset on the rocks
We ended on the rocks along the breakwater as the sun dropped low. Everything turned warm and hazy, and the two of them just sat close, foreheads together, quiet. These are the frames I always hope for, the ones that don’t need any direction.
